As we transition into the fall season, we recognize how quickly time passes and have revised a few deadlines to provide a few extra days. Below is a gentle reminder of approaching application, registration, and payment deadlines as opportunities to share to students and colleagues.

A summary of the steps for the All State online application and payments are included below

Step 1: Submit an application using Submittable.com. This system now allows for teachers to maintain access to the data entered. For the details visit https://www.mmea-maryland.org/all-state-nomination-payment   

Step 2: Make a payment.  Each teacher, school, county/district has different needs and will need to instruct and communicate their own process to students accordingly. This allows for the diversity of payment options that have been expressed. Step 3: Complete confirmations. Since MMEA policies require a principal signature and parent signature the quickest way to do so is to send the specific form link directly to your administrator (https://form.jotform.com/mmeamaryland/2019stateauditions-prinicpalconfirm). The principal online form takes up to 3 minutes to complete. And you’ll no longer have to wait on a signature from the principal/administration. The parent online form (https://form.jotform.com/mmeamaryland/2019audition-parentguardian-confirm) takes up to 3 minutes to complete and the quickest way to do so is to send the specific form link directly to the parent/guardian. There is no penalty or late fee for delayed parent confirmation forms.

2020 All State Registration, Deadlines, & Fees

MMEA is excited to offer a series of engaging major events in 2019-2020. December 9-20, 2019, All State notifications are anticipated and shared with the music teacher/director. All State partcipation information, online registration forms, student rules, parent/guardian rules, spirit gear, and guest conductors, will be available in late-November/early-December 2019. Anticipated fees are below and subject to change. January 10, 2020 is the deadline for All State commitment, registration, and payment. To prepare for auditions, the All State 2019-2020 Handbook will be available in late-August/early-September. Auditions: Junior auditions are scheduled for November 16 and Senior auditions are scheduled for November 23. Update! October 4 is the application deadline for All State Junior audutions (Grades 7-9) and October 11 is the application deadline for All State Senior auditions (Grades 10-12): submitted online by the music teacher/director only and registration on-site is not permitted. The anticipated rehearsal schedule is available.

  • All State Audition Commitment Fee: $8.00 credit card online, check, or money order only by the deadline. No cash will be accepted in advance by mail or at the door.

Teachers/Directors must register students using the online nomination application form. No paper forms will be accepted. Forms will not be accepted by parents/guardians. A student nomination/registration will be considered “confirmed” only when payment has occurred.

  • Due to the varied preferences and resources available at the school or county/district level, the process and method of payment is determined by the teacher, school, or county/district. Thus, it is each teacher, school, or county to decide and communicate with students and parents/guardians all instructions for how payment will occur by the deadline.

  • It is also the teacher, school, or county responsibility to share updates or check with students and parents/guardians regarding their payment status.

MMEA will accept payments online via credit card or via check by the deadline. All checks should include information regarding and indicate the a) student first and last name, b) school, c) music teacher/director, and d) date of the event(s). No cash will be accepted by mail or onsite.

MMEA aims to proactively communicate and provide updates to the teacher, school, or county regarding students who have not paid and therefore the registration is not confirmed.


All State is one of the most valuable musical experiences a student can have. There are associated costs. In addition to all the preparation, the musical expense (conductors, the music, the moving of equipment, etc.) are supported by MMEA and most school administrators. Students pay for their hotel room and meals and the bus transportation from the hotel to the concert site. All students spend two nights in the hotel as assigned, under chaperon supervision.

  • All State Commitment/Registration Fee: $450 public school and $555 private school

  • Deadlines: January 10 Deadline: All State Commitment, Registration, and Payment

Student schedules include meals, 8 hours sleep, and 3-8 hours of rehearsals each day, dress rehearsals, as well as group transportation to/from the rehearsals supervised by chaperones who are local teachers. Students are not able to be excused or miss rehearsals for any reason and must be onsite for the duration of the All State weekend.

  • Concert Admission: $20 online in advance and $20 at the door for each performance. Credit card is accepted in advance. Checks will be accepted at the door. No cash will be accepted in advance or at the door. Two complimentary tickets will be included with the students’ music. All other admission must be completed online or at the door.

  • Spirit Gear: On-line orders only by the deadline. Not available on site. T-Shirt, Long-Sleeve T-Shirt, Sweatshirt, and Hoodie range from $25.00-$45.00 (TBD).

  • Performances: MP3 audio/Video/CD/DVD: MP3 audio $22/Video $25/CD $35/ DVD $45 (subject to change)

    All fees and items purchased are non-refundable.

    To preserve the privacy and safety of students, all communication is facilitated through the school music teacher. Students and parents/guardians must work directly with and communicate directly with the music school teacher/director. Alternate files, formats, and links are not provided unless a request for accessibility due to a documented disability exists.
