Tenor-Bass Demonstration Chorus: Featured Session at the MMEA Fall In-Service Day Friday, October 18, 2019

Please note: Registration closed on September 20, 2019.

Maryland Choral Educators Association (MCEA) is proud to announce the return of the Maryland High School TB Demonstration Chorus that will be a featured session at the MMEA Fall In-Service Day on October 18, 2019. The chorus will include exemplary tenor and bass singers from across the state of Maryland in grades 10-12 (as of the 2019-2020 school year). The students must be current members of their high school choral class. Each NAfME member teacher may nominate up to eight singers from their chorus classes. If possible, please choose one for each voice part (T1, T2, B1, B2), but if that is a problem, send your best TB singers. The cost per student is $30 to cover the cost of lunch, music, conductor, and fees. Teachers must hold a current membership in NAfME at the time of application and this will be verified. Any teacher without a current membership may have their application removed from the program, students ineligible, and will be informed accordingly. All fees are non-refundable. Music will be mailed to the teacher at school two weeks in advance. All communication will be eletronic.

Students will report at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18 to Northwestern High School, 7000 Adelphi Rd, Hyattsville, MD 20782; home of The Jim Henson Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts. Upon arrival, the students will need to pass a part check on any of the selections. Anyone who is unable to perform their part will be sent home. Please make sure transportation is arranged accordingly. No reimbursement will be made for students who do not complete the part check satisfactorily. Those who pass will work with the conductor from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. After a lunch break, they will be part of the 11:50 a.m. session for teachers on working with the tenor/bass singing voices. They will perform the selected works at the conclusion of the session. Parents/Guardians may join the session at 12:30 p.m. The students will be dismissed at 12:50 p.m. Transportation to and from the event is the responsibility of the parent.

Completion of a Parent/Guardian Confirmation Form is required. Please submit payment online by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019. All checks or money orders should be payable to MMEA and arrive via mail by Friday, September 13, 2019. Review the specifics below. Do not send cash. Cash will not be accepted. Applications and payments not received by Friday, September 20, 2019 will be ineligible.

We are excited about this opportunity for TB singers and hope you and your students will participate!
